Santorini is one of Greece’s most crowded tourist destinations. Similar to Mykonos, the sunny island is heavily impacted by cruise tourism. With over 1.1 million cruise passengers being tendered on shore, Santorini ranks 7th in Europe’s busiest cruise destinations. But the destination is tiny and only has a population of just over 15.000. As a result, only one big cruise ship can make the tiny streets of Santorini feel very crowded. On 21 days in 2019, Santorini will be visited by over 10,000 cruise passengers making the Greek island a place to avoid. For the busier days it is wise to plan ahead and try to avoid the town.
