While the centre's streets are closed, the city's best days are all off the course: the ferry to the Bygdoy museums, the metro up to Holmenkollen and the forest lakes, or the harbour promenade's saunas and swim spots. Come back to the centre in the evening when the streets are open again. advice

Where are the crowds in Oslo during the Oslo Marathon?
The closures are the crowd. The streets of the centre close for the day and the pavements along them are the supporters' — a marathon through a compact centre is a big event whatever the size of the field. The fjord front and the forests carry on as if nothing were happening.
Road closures: what closes and when the streets reopen
The start is at Oslo Spektrum and the course keeps to the centre, whose streets close for the day. The organiser publishes the course map and the closure times on its own site before race week — check it before planning a taxi or a car through the centre that Saturday.
