Watch Singapore's own school holidays
Singapore's busy days follow its own school holidays, a driver on 48 days of the year. Public holidays in Australia (21 days), Singapore (11), Indonesia (8) and China (6) add to that. Chinese New Year, 6 and 7 February 2027, is Packed on both days.

Book the conservatories for opening time
Gardens by the Bay has the longest lines in Singapore. The cooled conservatories are ticketed, which limits the crowd inside. The outdoor Supertree Grove is free and fills twice every evening for the light show, then empties in between.
Book the conservatory tickets and start with the Cloud Forest at opening. For the light show, book the elevated walkway or watch from the lawns for free; of the two showings, the later one is thinner.
Skypark booked for sunset, Night Safari's first tram
The skypark deck has a queue for its sunset slots, and the light-and-water show on Marina Bay gathers its crowd on schedule. Sentosa and the wildlife parks have school-holiday queues; timed tickets and rainy days both shorten them. The Botanic Gardens are at their best at dawn.
Book the skypark deck for the hour before sunset, or walk the full bay loop at dusk. Take the Night Safari's first tram or the zoo at opening, and Sentosa midweek by cable car. Walk the quarters in the morning: temples first.
Give a Busy day in Singapore a plan

Check the ship days between November and March
Singapore is a cruise port. Ships call on 98 days a year, in every month from September 2026 to August 2027. March has 17 ship days, February 14, January 13, November 12, December 11. June has 1 and July 2.

Sleep near the Botanic Gardens
The Singapore crowd keeps to the famous hawker stalls at meal peaks, the Supertree Grove at show times, and Orchard Road's malls at weekends. The Botanic Gardens, the Southern Ridges' canopy walks, Tiong Bahru's art-deco blocks and Pulau Ubin stay quiet.
Stay a few stops from the centre, near one of the quiet places; Tiong Bahru is one of them. The city page names them and links to hotels there.
Eat before 12:00 or after 13:30
The famous hawker stalls at Maxwell, Lau Pa Sat and the neighbourhood courts have real queues at meal times. Office lunch hour is the daily maximum: 12:00 to 13:30, and again 19:00 to 20:30.
Eat before 12:00 or after 13:30, and before 19:00 or after 20:30. Share tables. Join one long queue for the stall you want most; the rest of the meal takes minutes.
Pack for heat and daily rain
In September Singapore has about 30 °C by day and rain on about 24 days. Every month here has rain on 19 days or more. The tips above ask for a dawn in the gardens and a lot of walking.
Bring shoes you can walk in for hours, a compact umbrella, a water bottle, a charged phone or power bank for tickets and maps, and one warmer layer for the cooled conservatories.
