Ibiza is Calm on almost every day from November to March. February is the pick: Calm on all 28 days, about 16 °C by day and rain on about 2 days. January is Calm on all 31 days too, but cooler, about 15 °C.

In Ibiza, take June or October, not July
July and August are Busy or Packed on every day: 16 Packed days in July, 18 in August. June has 20 Busy or Packed days out of 30. October has 11 out of 31, and no Packed days at all.

Ibiza fills with the German and Dutch school holidays
Ibiza is busy when its visitors are on holiday. German school holidays are a driver on 199 days of the year, Dutch school holidays on 132. Spanish public holidays count on 29 days, German public holidays on 19, Italian on 14, British on 13 and Dutch on 11.

Walk Dalt Vila before 11:00 or at sunset
Dalt Vila, the walled town, has no ticket, but one gate: everyone enters through the same drawbridge and ramp. Cruise afternoons and the pre-dinner hour tighten the ramp lanes. Go before 11:00 for the bastions and the cathedral, while it is still cool.
Go up before 11:00. Come back to the ramparts at sunset for the harbor lights, and expect company then. If you want a guide, book an old town walking tour for the morning.
Coves before 11:00, Es Vedra in the late afternoon
The famous calas are full by noon in season, and the car parks close. Cala Comte draws a gathering at sunset every evening. At Es Vedra, cars and drums gather at the cliff viewpoints each dusk; the late afternoon light is nearly as good, with far fewer people. Day boats to Formentera fill in August.
Go to the coves in the morning, always. See Es Vedra in the late afternoon rather than at sunset. For Formentera, take the first ferry, rent a bike or scooter at the port, and be at Ses Illetes before the day boats arrive.

Check the ship days: 21 in July alone
Ibiza is a cruise port. Ships call on 125 days in the coming year. July has 21 call days, June 20, August 19 and May 17. There are no calls in January or February. Cruise afternoons are when Dalt Vila's ramp lanes are tightest.
Before you book, open the ships page for your dates. On a ship day, do Dalt Vila before 11:00 and keep the afternoon for the rural north.
Sleep near the rural north
Ibiza's crowd keeps to the famous calas at midday, Dalt Vila's drawbridge and ramp before dinner, and Es Vedra's viewpoints at sunset. The rural north, with Santa Gertrudis, San Juan and the red-dirt lanes between them, stays calm. So do Formentera's long edges: Ses Illetes' far spit and the south beaches.
Stay a few stops from the centre, near one of the quiet places. Salinas' far end thins out with every hundred metres south. The city page names the quiet places and links to hotels there.
Market mornings in the north; book the Comte terrace
The island's north keeps its own calendar: Santa Gertrudis's cafe square, the Las Dalias market days and San Juan's Sunday scene. At Cala Comte the sunset draws a gathering every evening. If you want to be there for it, arrive very early or book the restaurant terrace.

Pack for sun and early ferries
In September Ibiza has about 28 °C by day and rain on about 7 days. The tips above ask for early mornings at the coves, a first ferry and walking on the walls.
Bring shoes you can walk in for hours, a charged phone for tickets and maps, and a water bottle. An umbrella can stay at home.
