Come in March, or in May

Antalya: trade Sun 18 Oct for Sun 1 Nov
In Antalya a Packed day can sit three days from a Lively one. Thursday 29 October 2026 is Packed, with German school holidays and a Türkiye public holiday behind it. Sunday 1 November is Lively.
Sun 18 Oct is Busy in Antalya; Sun 1 Nov is Lively. Move the visit by 14 days and the same city is quieter.
Avoid July and August; May has no Busy days
July and August are the peak. August is Packed on all 31 days, July on 27 of 31. June and September are Busy on every day, but not Packed. May is Lively on every day, with no Busy days at all.
If summer is the only time you can travel, book June or September rather than July or August. If you can come earlier, May is the last month before the Busy days start. The month pages show each month week by week.
Antalya fills with the German school holidays
Antalya is busy when its visitors are on holiday. German school holidays are a driver on 199 days of the year. German public holidays count on 19 days, and public holidays in Türkiye, Russia and the UK on 13 days each.

Walk Kaleici before 10:00 or after 17:00
Kaleici, the old town, has no tickets and no queues. Its narrow lanes jam mid-morning, when tour groups squeeze through between Hadrian's Gate and the old harbor. After 17:00 the lanes are quiet again.
Walk the old town before 10:00 or after 17:00. If you want a guide, book an old town walking tour that starts early or late. Pass through Hadrian's Gate on your way in; it is the front gate.
Museum at midday, falls and boats in the morning
The Antalya Museum is rarely crowded and works best at midday, when the old town is busiest. The Lower Duden falls draw the tour buses from late morning through the afternoon. Boats from the old harbor have calmer water and fewer people on deck in the morning.
Do the Lower Duden falls early or in the last hour of light; the Upper falls in the park work most hours. Take a boat in the morning and the quay after sunset. Go to Perge & Aspendos in the morning, before the heat.
Give a Busy day in Antalya a plan
On a Busy day in Antalya, the order of your day matters more than the list of sights. Every Busy or Packed day page has three plans. Each plan says which tickets it needs and at what hours to go.
Choose One day, the big sights if you have a single day. Choose Start early, one ticket if you want to spend little. Choose The quiet side if you want no lines at all.
Check the ship days: 8 a year
Antalya is a cruise port, but a small one. Ships call on 8 days in the coming year: in October 2026, January 2027, April 2027 and June 2027. October and June have 2 call days each; January and April have 1.
Before you book, open the ships page for your dates. If a ship day falls in your stay, keep the old town for after 17:00 that day.
Sleep near the Antalya Museum
Antalya's crowd keeps to Kaleici's main lanes, from Hadrian's Gate down to the old harbor, the Lower Duden falls and the cliff-edge viewpoints over the harbor. The Antalya Museum, Karaalioglu Park and Perge & Aspendos stay quiet.
Stay a few stops from the centre, near one of the quiet places. Karaalioglu Park is a few minutes from the old town's busiest corner. The city page names the quiet places and links to hotels there.
Pack for the heat and the early starts
In September Antalya has about 33 °C by day and rain on about 2 days. The tips above ask for early mornings, a museum at midday and a lot of walking.
Bring shoes you can walk in for hours, a charged phone for tickets and maps, and a water bottle. You can leave the umbrella at home.
