Avoid Crowds in Venice. Venice is one of Europe’s top tourist destinations and has been struggling with big crowds for years. With over a million cruise passengers per year, things only seem to get worse and the city tries to fight back. They for example, levy a tax on tourists that only stay a day and the city tries to limit the impact of cruise passengers flocking the canals and small streets.

Venice sees crowds throughout the year. Especially during summer season weekends, Venice simply is too busy. So busy that the city itself launched the #EnjoyRespectVenezia campaign advising tourists to visit the city when it is less crowded. The best time to visit Venice is outside the peak season.
