The biggest cruise ship that is scheduled to set sail to the Danish capital is Carnival Cruise Lines’ latest ship: Carnival Mardi Gras. The ship that will start sailing in 2020 will carry 6,338 cruise passengers and will visit Copenhagen once at the end of August. The ship bringing most passengers to Copenhagen is MSC Meraviglia. During 19 visits, the MSC Cruise Lines owned ship will bring 102,334 passengers to town. At a distance, with 83,488 passengers comes NCL’s Norwegian Escape.
The cruise season in Copenhagen starts relatively late. During the winter months no cruise ship is scheduled to call upon the Danish capital. The first ship will arrive on March 20 but the season doesn’t really start until May. From May to September, Copenhagen will welcome over 100,000 passengers each month. The season peaks in July and August when that number exceeds 150,000.
